The two Architella shades you installed a couple of weeks ago really have solved a significant 2nd floor cooling problem...let me explain
We live in a 2 story colonial-style home built in 1941. As with many houses of that era the HVAC system was designed for a single furnace and single air conditioner. So in the summer, while the 1st floor is comfortably cool, the 2nd floor bedrooms are much warmer. I partially solved this problems several years ago with a new hi-efficiecy air conditioner, which cools more slowly, but circulates more cool air into the bedrooms. But on the hottest of days the bedrooms still heated up too much. I realized the source of the problem was heat transfer thru two smallish west facing windows, each about 4' by 3'. These are the original divided light windows with external storm windows, Despite an aluminum louvre blind in one window and an older Duette blind in the other, once the strong sun from the west hit these windows after 3pm the rooms heated up fast...the blinds acted as radiators! I explained the situation to you and you recommended Architella blinds with a blackout lining. They were installed just before this current hot spell, and what a difference! I figure by early evening with the strong westerly sun these upstairs rooms are 10 degrees F cooler.
So if any of your other customers have a similar problem (or maybe the reverse problem in winter) I would HIGHLY recommend this type of Architella blind

Last fall I had Betz Blinds install an awning on my west patio and window film on my south and west windows. I am so pleased with the results.
